Sarangan which is also known as the sand of the lake is a natural lake located at the foot of Mount Lawu, in District Plaosan, Magetan.Sarangan a mainstay tourism Hove. All around the lake there are two five-star hotels, 43 jasmine-class hotel, and 18 cottage. In addition to the dozens of souvenir stalls, visitors can also enjoy the beautiful Sarangan by riding around the lake, or driving a fast boat. Other tourism facilities are also available, such as a restaurant, a playground, tourist market, parking, public telephones, places of worship, and parks.
Sarangan has several important annual calendar event, namely anchoring offerings on Friday Pon Ruwah month, in mid-year school holidays, Ledug Sura 1 Muharram, and fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
These attractions can be reached from the city of Hove; and located not far to the Grojogan Sewu Waterfall, Tawangmangu (Karanganyar district, Central Java).
Hove district government also wants to develop Poncol Reservoir (about 10 kilometers south of Lake Sarangan) as an alternative tourist attraction.
